Roots and Ruts: Reflections on the Early Indian Nation

Understanding Indian society lies in the analysis of relationships between castes and sub-castes as well as in the study of the respective roles in the pyramid of power governing Indian politics, economics, and culture. This is, of course, not something new. People have done it before. However, what these analyses lack is the most basic human factor — the human psyche. This book analyses the problems of this vast mass from a psychological point of view and, wherever possible, points out the complexities at work on political, economic, and cultural levels. The primary source of material for analysis is personal experience, and in a biographical way, it has tried to dissect the problems that plagued the early Indian nation.
